AB&I was honored to be a part of this year's 2nd annual Juneteenth Jubilee hosted by District 6 City Council Member Loren Taylor. At the event, 3 different nonprofits received awards that benefitted growth for the residence in Oakland. Team Members Kristin, Community Liaison, and Robin, Controller, attended the event.

AB&I participates in retooling project to support of local first responders

The shortage of PPE equipment can leave health care workers, fire fighters, and EMT’s at risk.  In order to help solve the problem, Mira Costa college Technology Career Institute (TCI) retooled a portion of its Carlsbad, California location to manufacture portable decontamination kits.  They only made 10 kits and we were able to procure 4 of them.  In support of their efforts, AB&I donated these kits valued at $900 each to four recipients: Highland Hospital, Alameda Hospital, San Leandro Hospital and Roots Community Health Center in Oakland.

The kit inludes a germicidal Ultraviolet (UV-C) System, which is an environmentally friendly, non-chemical disinfection process.  This state-of-the art system is protable and easy to use.  It does not use any harmful chemicals, no sprays or solvents, and is safe on all surfaces including: fabric, metal and even mobile phones.  The Germicidal UV-C Light destroys bacteria viruses, fungy and protozoa.

The UV-C light is a short-wavelength, ultraviolet light that breaks apart germ DNA, leaving it unable to function or reproduce.  In other words, UV-C light is a germicidal that kills or neutralizes “superbugs” like the coronavirus, germs and any other pathogens on surgaces.  The system plugs in to any standard outlet, and within a two to four minute disinfecting process, it cans strelize PPE equipment thus extending the service life of PPE gear.

Michael Lowe in partnership with Assemblyman Rob Bonta presented the kits to Alameda Hospital on July 24th.

Thank you California Metals Coalition, TCI and Assemblymember Rob Bonta for partnering with manufacturing to provide these kits to front like workers.
